| Description: |
Transforming rank-and-file workers or new hires into effective frontline supervisors is a huge challenge. For many reasons, great employees don’t always make great managers:- They must learn how to give – rather than follow – directions
- They must make the transition from team member to team leader, learning how to coach and discipline workers who were once their peers (and may still be their friends)
- They must help you boost morale and retention despite tough economic times, a skill not required of your average employee
- They must learn the legal dos and don’ts of supervising to avoid legal mistakes that could cost you big bucks and lots of embarrassment
Many brand-new supervisors have never been trained on how to manage, and they’ve probably had at least a few poor role models over the years. Now, they need a firm hand to point them in the right direction.
Learning Objectives:- What steps newly minted supervisors should take – on their first day, in the first week, and during the first month – to position themselves for success
- How they can make the most painless transition from peer to boss, without alienating their subordinates
- The most common legal errors that new supervisors make (from unknowingly discriminating against employees to giving out the wrong information about FMLA leave)
- How they should document issues with individual employees and administer discipline effectively
- The most effective techniques to deliver constructive feedback without demoralizing employees in the process
- Best practices for new managers to build strong, healthy relationships with their teams

| About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts: |
Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.
The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form a training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!
And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.
Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions. |
