Most people are very comfortable at managing people like themselves. But ask them or force them (that is, promote them) to manage people that are “different from them” and diversity issues may arise.

Unfortunately, most organizations promote people first, and ask questions later if this person can manage or lead. And it is pretty obvious pretty quickly when someone does not know how to maneuver the ever-increasingly diverse and complex world of workforce diversity.

So how can you help? What does it mean to be a diversity change agent? What does it look like every day? What are the critical skills and abilities that our managers and leaders must possess and practice?

Learning Objectives:

This training session will help you to train your managers and supervisors to better manage diversity. By attending, you will learn:
  • What is a Diversity Change Agent – and what are the competencies and skills they need to be successful?
  • What the top diversity change agents in organizations are doing today
  • How to create - and support - change agents in the workplace
  • How to address the “reluctant manager” or the “toxic employee”
  • How does trust in the workplace play into all of this
  • How you can lead by example!
About Your Speaker:

Mauricio Velásquez, MBA, is President and CEO of the Diversity Training Group, a globally-recognized diversity training, consulting, strategy, and harassment prevention training firm based in Herndon, VA.
