If you are a one-person HR office, then as a generalist, the "safety role" comes with the territory.
Yet as a one-person safety and "everything else in HR" Dept., there are only so many hours in the day. And while safety is important, many people new to this position don't have the first clue as to what to do to understand and comply with the various laws and requirements - let alone what happens when someone has an accident.
But you can't fix what you don't know, and safety is too important to "learn the hard way". Hence our "Tips For A One-Person Safety Department" training presentation.
Learning Objectives
Many HR generalists who move into a sole HR practitioner role may have never worked in safety before, it can't be assumed that you just know it – including the specifics of what you are responsible for!
This training session provides a primer on the basics of being "in charge of Safety". It will help you understand the basic rules and requirements, including:- What is OHSA?
- What is WC?
- The difference between OSHA/WC, and how they overlap
- Employee rights and responsibilities in regards to safety
- Safety priorities
- How to do a safety audit
- Best practices in safety training
- What to do when an accident happens
- What to make sure you do in an accident investigation
- Best practices for the overlap between WC, ADA, and FMLA
- How to work effectively with your WC carrier

This presentation is also available in a recorded format, in On-Demand Or CD versions, as shown in the pricing options below. |
| About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts: |
Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.
The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form of training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!
And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.
Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions. |
