Description:

It’s not a question of if but a question of when a company’s benefit plan will be hacked.

The Department of Labor’s Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans’ November 2016 report, “Cybersecurity Consideration for Benefit Plans,” warns that while cyber threats can’t be eliminated, they can be managed.

Every party involved in administering benefit plans and corresponding data needs to prepare so they can respond and recover once a “cyber event” happens.

Don’t wait for a cybersecurity breach to figure out how catastrophic an attack could be, leaving some of the most personal details of your employees’ lives, from their social security numbers to their finances to their health information, up for grabs with cyber hackers.

Join us for a webinar on what companies can do to minimize the impact of cyber security threats to their benefit plans, a segment that’s often left out of companies’ cyber security planning for regular business activities. Our presenters, both skilled attorneys, will explain the threats facing benefit plan management and the steps to protect and defend employees and companies.

You’ll learn:

  • What your company’s benefit plan-related cyber security responsibilities should be
  • How the Employee Retirement Income Security Act applies to this important issue
  • Top forms of cyber risks to benefit plan participants, including identity theft and breaches of privacy
  • How to identify your organization’s biggest areas of benefit plan vulnerability
  • How to work with your benefit plan vendors to develop a smart cyber strategy
  • Pointers for conducting a cyber risk assessment of your benefits plans
  • Essential questions you need answers to—so you can ensure that plan data is being managed effectively and safely
  • How to analyze the top threats against your benefit plan and develop a strategy to counteract them
  • The key first steps to take if you detect a breach, and how to most effectively mitigate the situation
  • Long-range planning for ensuring that you’re up-to-date on the latest cybersecurity benefits practices
  • Best practices for documenting your preparation efforts, and emergency plans

About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts:

Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.

The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form of training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!

And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.

Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions.
