Implementing a Pay-for-Performance Program: How to Set Goals, Motivate Employees, and Drive Results
|Date / Time:
The improving economy means that the once employer-friendly job market is going to give way to new opportunities for employees, which means your top talent will start looking around to see what else is out there. So how can you reward them in a way that keeps them in the fold, and drives even higher levels of performance?
When attention shifted from compensation to mere survival during the worst of the recession, performance management was also put on the back burner. But as the labor market starts looking up, it's crucial that your compensation program is aligned with measuring and rewarding achievement. If it's not, your best employees may walk out the door.
The best employees want to know how they are performing, and they want to be challenged to succeed. An effective goal-setting process that is linked to a well-calibrated pay-for-performance system will facilitate employee appraisals, reward your stars, and motivate workers at all levels to perform at their best.
