FMLA Abuse Stops Now: Tips To Identify, Correct And Prevent
|Date / Time:
Let's face it - some employees have a sophisticated sense about how to abuse their rights under the Family and Medical Leave Act, particularly when using intermittent leave when vacation and sick time are not available. To minimize disruption in your workplace, you've got to know how to detect and deal with employees who abuse FMLA.
Sometimes the writing is on the wall, like Monday/Friday absences and midday doctor's appointments. Some abuse may be more subtle, but regardless of what the employee is doing to work the system, the question is - what can you legally do about it?
No employer should be afraid to hold employees accountable for their actions for fear of legal entanglements, especially since FMLA rules and regulations set forth the right to limit FMLA abuse. Participate in this interactive webinar and you'll learn how to identify, correct, and prevent it so you can stay in compliance and keep your workplace productive.
In addition, you'll learn:
- What type of notice you can legally require before honoring leave requests
- How to identify patterns of abuse, such as "Monday/Friday Syndrome," and what you can do about it
- How an employee's failure to obtain continuing treatment could work to your advantage
- Practical tips for drafting your attendance policy to protect your organization against repeated undocumented absences
- When to request a second opinion about an employee's health condition
- How to successfully obtain thorough medical certifications/re-certifications
- What to do when an employee is frequently out for doctor's appointments, and how to properly communicate with the employee while also minimizing disruption to your organization
- Where the legal lines are when it comes to catching a suspected FMLA abuser in the act
- When you can keep employees on leave from bonuses and recognitions
- The legal definition of "interfering" with an employee's FMLA rights, and how to be sure your work to defend against abuse doesn't become a legal hurdle for your organization
In just 90 minutes, you'll get the answers to your toughest leave questions, so you can prevent FMLA abuse while staying in compliance. Register now for this informative event risk free.
