Workers' Comp 101: Program-Strengthening Strategies
|Date / Time:
Workers' compensation can have a very big impact to your company's bottom line. It is critical that existing workers' compensation programs or those being developed address the areas that can lead to potential legal problems and impact cost.
Developing and managing an effective workers' compensation program requires team work among all staff members, from HR and safety to legal and operations. With a good roadmap in place you can establish a program that will have a positive impact on the bottom line.
Keep in mind, too, that laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act, apply and overlap in the areas of leave, rehabilitation, and treatment, so it's important to have a handle on your obligations to grant time off and other accommodations to workers' compensation claimants.
Join us for an in-depth webinar where you and your colleagues will learn:
- The basics of workers' compensation law you need to know about, and where to get additional information about your state's specific laws
- Why offering light duty can both help and hurt your organization
- Whether you're required to offer light duty for off-the-job injuries
- How to effectively work with treating physicians and insurance carriers to get your employees back to work as soon as possible
- How to work with your claim handler to set reserves properly and manage cases effectively
- What to do if you think you have a questionable claim on your hands
- What you need to know about the intersection of workers' compensation and HIPAA
- Whether it's ever permissible to terminate an employee who is out on workers' compensation leave
- How to stay out of hot water with the ADA and FMLA when dealing with workers' compensation leaves
- How to develop and present metrics that demonstrate program effectives to upper and line management

|About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts:|
Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you
attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.
versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form of training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without
any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back
at work immediately after the session ends!
And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous
times and to share it with others in your office.
Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the
presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions.
