Description:

Question: What’s a great way to identify and correct safety deficiencies that could lead to serious injuries and costly Cal/OSHA violations?

Answer: Dive into the types of safety violations OSHA has been frequently citing organizations for!

For FY 2014, fall protection, hazard communication, scaffolding, respiratory protection, and lockout/tagout topped out on OSHA’s Top 10 violations list, as well as many other “familiar faces.”

Examining the “hard lessons” others have learned can help you evaluate potential gaps in your overall safety compliance strategy. This can be a big challenge, though—unless you’ve got a seasoned pro guiding you on the most-effective ways to use that data!

Join us for this webinar when our presenters, seasoned OSHA lawyers who have helped many companies address compliance challenges before, during, and after an inspection, will provide a helpful assessment of current Top 10 violation categories and tips on how to use that data to develop your current OSHA compliance health.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize data indicative of Cal/OSHA’s 2015 enforcement strategy and initiatives
  • Evaluate Cal/OSHA violations data to determine your facility’s risk of noncompliance
  • Use the data to inform your own audit and inspection process
  • Assess your facility’s compliance with standards that are commonly violated
  • Identify new and pending regulations that will impact enforcement in 2015
  • Gather information from databases to discover a “top 10” list for your own company
  • Find additional resources to help you use violations data in a meaningful way, and more!
Don’t miss this opportunity to discover how to fortify your safety programs against costly enforcement action for noncompliance in 2015. Space is limited, so register soon!

About Your Presenters

Carla Gunnin of Jackson Lewis has a national practice primarily focused on labor relations matters and occupational safety and health issues. She litigates cases before federal and state administrative tribunals throughout the United States in matters of Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) law and Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) law and has a strategic advantage in representing employers in OSHA, MSHA, and United States Department of Labor (DOL) matters, using her prior experience as a trial attorney for the DOL. Since going into private practice, Gunnin has successfully handled OSHA matters involving egregious citations, willful citations, fatality-related citations and complex multi-employer worksite issues. In addition, she has represented employers in a wide variety of DOL issues.

Brian Hendrix of Jackson Lewis advises clients on matters involving environmental, health, and safety law, focusing on litigation, incident investigations, enforcement defense and regulatory compliance counseling. He has extensive experience with federal and state agencies and has represented a host of clients engaged in a wide variety of manufacturing, production, extraction and service-related industries. His practice often requires his immediate response to catastrophic events, accidents, complaints, and “whistleblower” claims in order to provide his clients with real-time advice for managing and minimizing their civil and criminal liability.

Hendrix has practiced before OSHA, MSHA, BATFE, DOT and the EPA, as well as state and federal trial and appellate courts around the country. In addition to litigation and enforcement matters, he spends considerable time counseling clients on regulatory compliance, products liability and federal permitting/licensing, particularly explosives permitting/licensing and has extensive experience with administrative rulemaking and legislative strategies.

About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts:

Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.

The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form of training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!

And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.

Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions.
