Active Shooter in the Workplace: How to Respond with a Survivor’s Mindset & Limit Liability and Long-Term Consequences
|Date / Time:
If an unstable employee, ex-employee, or family member entered your workplace with a gun, would you know what to do? This is a serious question that every safety manager, HR professional, and employee should be able to answer with a resounding “yes.”
Don't for a minute think, “it will never happen here” given the frequency and severity of mass shootings:
- On October 1, a gunman equipped with several weapons and body armor entered a classroom at an Oregon community college and proceeded on a rampage that claimed 10 lives.
- In August, during a live television broadcast, a reporter and camera man were shot and killed by a former employee of the Virginia-based affiliate news station for which they worked.
Active shooter incidents are increasing, with the greatest percentage occurring in a commercial setting, according to the FBI. When a gunman opens fire, on average nearly a dozen injuries and at least three deaths are predicted based on statistical data.
Fortunately, you can train employees to respond to an active assailant attack in ways that can minimize their risk of injury and death. Being prepared is the best tool for survival, for you and your employees.
Join us when our presenter, Bill Gage, a former Secret Service agent with extensive experience in active shooter threat mitigation, will share his insights on preparing for an active shooter or other workplace violence-related event. He will discuss pre-attack indicators and profiles of active shooter and workplace violence perpetrators.
BONUS: Plus, as a bonus for attending you’ll get the A.C.T. Active Countermeasure Training (Survival Appraisal Tool a.k.a. S.A.T.)!
- Apply FBI findings on active shooter incidents to your HR and workplace safety planning efforts

|About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts:|
Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you
attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.
versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form of training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without
any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back
at work immediately after the session ends!
And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous
times and to share it with others in your office.
Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the
presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions.
