Consider that during a recent OSHA inspection of a transportation service provider with operations across North America, one of its facilities was cited for failure to comply with the OSHA powered industrial truck standards. OSHA proposed a whopping fine of $330,000 for 14 violations and, in addition to issuing violations for that specific facility, OSHA also required enterprise-wide abatement for the violations in question.

Howard Mavity is a senior partner in the Atlanta office of Fisher & Phillips LLP. He founded and co-chairs the firm’s nationwide Workplace Safety and Catastrophe Management Practice Group. Mr. Mavity draws upon his past business experience in transportation, logistics, construction, and industrial supply to work with clients as a business partner.

He has provided counsel for over 225 occasions of union activity, guided unionized companies, and has managed approximately 500 OSHA fatality cases in construction and general industry, ranging from dust explosions to building collapses, in virtually every state. Mr. Mavity has coordinated complex inspections involving multi-employer sites, corporate-wide compliance, and issues involving criminal referral. He also responds to virtually every type of day-to-day workplace inquiry, and has handled cases before the EEOC, OFCCP, NLRB, and numerous other state and federal agencies.
