Starting in 2017, employees performing work on covered contracts with the federal government are entitled to one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours of work, accruing up to 56 hours (or 7 days) of earned paid sick leave per year.
To prepare, you’ll need to consider which medical conditions and other occurrences qualify for this paid sick leave, who’s covered (it’s not just the employee, but his or her family members, too), and how this new law interacts with your current state and federal leave obligations.
