Active Shooter In The Workplace: Respond With A Survivor's Mindset And Limit Your Liability Exposure

SKU:WC-1023418
Date / Time: Recorded
Format: Webinar
Description:

If an unstable employee, ex-employee, or employee family member entered your workplace with a gun, would you know what to do? This is a serious question that every safety manager, HR professional, and employee should be able to answer with a resounding “Yes.”

Based on statistical data, when an assailant opens fire, an average of a dozen injuries and at least three deaths are likely to occur. Being prepared is the best tool for survival, for both you and your employees.

Consider the recent massacre that occurred at the San Bernardino, California’s Inland Regional Center (IRC), where armed assailants ambushed a workplace party, killing 14 and injuring 17 others. Witnesses identified one of the assailants as an employee for the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health (SBCDPH), which was putting on the event at the IRC facility that day.

Employers can no longer subscribe to the notion that “it will never happen here,” given the frequency and severity of workplace attacks. Fortunately, you can train employees to respond to an active assailant attack in ways that can minimize their risk of injury and death.

You won’t want to miss our in-depth webinar when our presenters, Kevlon H. Kirkpatrick, FCPP, FCP, CBI and Audra L. Rigby, FCPP, FCP, CBI, from Certified Crime Prevention Consultants, LLC, will share important insights on preparing for an active shooter or other workplace violence-related event. They will discuss pre-attack indicators, how to look at your workplace through eyes of an assailant and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) strategies that could save lives.

Learning Objectives:

  • Apply crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) strategies that could help save lives
  • Identify behaviors, causes, and red flags typically associated with active shooter incidents and workplace violence
  • Develop an emergency operations plan with a focus on active shooters
  • Use creative ways to enhance situational awareness and a survival mindset
  • Determine whether or not your workplace could be considered a “soft target”

Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.

The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form of training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!

And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.

Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions.
