E-Recordkeeping Essentials For Employers: Practical Tips For Avoiding Costly Mistakes

SKU:WC-1023479
Date / Time: Recorded
Format: Webinar
Description:

Consider the sheer volume of your electronically stored employment agreements, employee data, healthcare information, payroll figures, and day-to-day management items. Although electronic recordkeeping saves a lot of paper and ink, it can prevent serious challenges for HR.

Consider the sheer volume of electronically stored employment agreements, employee data, healthcare information, payroll figures and more. Then consider that you have to ensure all of those documents were properly collected and stored for accessibility.

There is also the question of the admissibility of an electronic document in case of legal proceedings brought by employees against your company, and whether electronic records will satisfy state and federal recordkeeping and inspection requirements under employment laws.

In addition, there are security and confidentiality considerations. In the social media age, it’s all too easy to accidentally share confidential, or even highly personal, information about the company or employees. That’s even more possible with bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies. HR professionals need to know what can be shared, what must absolutely not be shared, and how all information can be protected.

Join us for an up-to-date briefing on the laws surrounding HR electronic recordkeeping. You’ll gain clarity on what to keep as an electronic record, what must be deleted, and how to ensure compliance with the state and federal laws surrounding recordkeeping.

Learning Objectives

  • Documents and records you must keep on file, and for how long
  • Why keeping everything is almost as dangerous as keeping nothing
  • How to make the transition from paper to electronic files

  • When and how to destroy electronic documents
  • When your legal duty to preserve records is triggered
  • Technology you should be prepared to sift through when the preservation duty arises
  • And much more!

Cannot Attend The Live Presentation?

This presentation is also available in a recorded format, in On-Demand version, as shown in the pricing options below.

About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts:

Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.

The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form of training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!

And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.

Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions.
