Description:

Bombings, mass shootings, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, road accidents, and simply getting sick, these are just a few of the important reasons organizations need to address how they’re managing the duty of care of their traveling workers.

International business travelers may be particularly vulnerable to harm given unfamiliar and potentially unpredictable surroundings, and many companies overlook the essential need to develop a comprehensive travel management program.

You owe your workers a duty of care, and if you fail to properly assess and mitigate the risk of harm to your workers abroad, or fail to provide them with adequate resources, you could face legal and reputation liabilities.

Join us for an in-depth webinar led by global HR expert Professor Lisbeth Claus. She will provide critical insights on making sure your travel management program is designed to mitigate risks, effectively train employees on duty of care practices, and apprise company leadership of your legal obligations in this area.

You’ll learn:

  • The need for employers to assess and mitigate employees’ travel risks
  • How a strategic and operational duty-of-care plan can help bolster your company’s overall risk-management program
  • The most common mistakes employers make when it comes to duty-of-care obligations
  • The importance of customizing your duty-of-care plan to your organization’s travel patterns and risk tolerance levels
  • The sustainable, loyalty-boosting benefits of an effective travel-management program

Lisbeth Claus has been widely published in academic and professional journals on subject matters related to global HR. She specializes in the implications for global organizations when their employees cross borders. She was co-author (with Dennis Briscoe and Randall Schuler) of the 3rd edition of International Human Resource Management (Routledge, 2008) and is Editor-in-Chief of the Global HR Practitioner Handbook (volumes 1, 2013; volume 2, 2014; and volume 3, 2015, Global Immersion Press).

Considered a global expert on employer duty of care, Ms. Claus has traveled to four continents to inform employers of their obligation to protect their business travelers, international assignees and dependents. She is the author of the 2009 Duty of Care White Paper—viewed today as a major impetus for putting duty of care on the map for global organizations.

Ms. Claus authored the 2012 Duty of Care and Travel Risk Management Global Benchmarking Study – the first empirical study on duty of care for which she earned the EMMA award for research of the year. Her other research interests include performance management, HR analytics and developing a culture of health and wellness in global organizations.

In March 2016, at its inaugural annual global HR conference, the HR Roundtable and Global HR Consortium announced the creation of the annual Lisbeth Claus Trail Blazer Award in honor of the lifelong dedication of Ms. Claus to the development of the global HR profession around the world.

Cannot Attend The Live Presentation?

This presentation is also available in a recorded format, in On-Demand version, as shown in the pricing options below.

About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts:

Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.

The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form of training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!

And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.

Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions.
