Description:

If the Department of Labor (DOL) takes an interest in investigating your organization’s Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) practices, watch out! Should they uncover systemic FMLA problems, your company could be on the hook for high-priced penalties.

The best defense lies in conducting your own FMLA self-audit and correcting any problems before a DOL investigation or employee lawsuit arises. But what should you be looking at? How do you get started? And, most importantly, what should you do if your FMLA audit leads to more questions than answers, such as:

  • Should we be keeping paper FMLA files, or are electronic records sufficient?
  • How much oversight should we really be giving to a third-party leave-management administrator?
  • What’s required on the FMLA report used to track FMLA leave?
  • How should we respond if we uncover problems?
Join us to learn how to conduct a thorough FMLA self-audit. You’ll learn:
  • The importance of understanding FMLA requirements and recent updates
  • Why conducting a FMLA self-audit is always a smart maintenance move
  • What your audit should cover—FMLA recordkeeping, training, leave procedures, and more
  • What the DOL will look for during a FMLA investigation
  • Why training employees in FMLA compliance is essential—and pointers on how to ensure that managers know the proper steps to take to respond to requests, returns to work, etc.
  • Why communicating your FMLA leave policy—and having a policy readily available—is so important
  • How to ensure that your FMLA forms are up-to-date and compliant
  • The importance of proper FMLA-related correspondence
  • How to ensure that you’re following recertification guidelines within the proper timeframe

Cannot Attend The Live Presentation?

This presentation is also available in a recorded format, in On-Demand version, as shown in the pricing options below.

About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts:

Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.

The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form of training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!

And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.

Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions.
