About The Presenter:

Michael Manzler

Mike is the Associate General Counsel in the Office of General Counsel at Wright State University. He previously chaired the Labor & Employment Practice of a multi-city Ohio law firm. From national Fortune 500 corporations to public universities to small local businesses to non-profit organizations, for over 25 years employers have reached out to Mike for his demonstrated ability to devise effective legal solutions and obtain favorable results in employment law and labor relations matters. Recognized among The Best Lawyers in America® for Employment Litigation, Mike proactively counsels and vigorously defends management on issues such as employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, leaves of absence, ADA accommodations, labor relations, wage and hour, breach of contract, intentional tort, ERISA denial of benefits, and wrongful discharge claims in both federal and state trial and appellate courts. He also has extensive experience defending employers before state and federal government agencies including the EEOC, Ohio Civil Rights Commission, Department of Labor, and NLRB.


In addition to defending litigation, Mike regularly provides training, counsel, and advice to management teams regarding human resources policies and best practices, employee handbooks, employment contracts and independent contractor arrangements, voluntary and involuntary severance agreements, reductions in force, and compliance with numerous employment statutes such as the FMLA, ADA, Title VII, ADEA, USERRA, NLRA, FLSA, and WARN. He negotiates and arbitrates grievances under collective bargaining agreements, and represents employers in the mediation of disputes before court-appointed mediators, private mediators, and the American Arbitration Association. Mike chairs the Cincinnati Bar Association's Labor & Employment Law Committee, is actively involved with the United Way of Greater Cincinnati, and frequently authors articles and presents on a variety of employment and labor law subjects.
