This course provides a broad overview of Kentucky law regarding workers' compensation.

It covers the fundamentals of Kentucky law and goes on to discuss specific defenses, what to do when a hearing is requested, and how to calculate permanent partial disability. Specific defenses will be covered as well as Kentucky forms that must be filed with the Kentucky Office of Workers' Claims.

  • Kentucky Workers' Compensation Insurance System Overview

    This module covers the technical aspects of insurance in Kentucky including how insurance underwriters determine the premium employers pay and what factors drive up the cost of a workers' compensation insurance policy.

  • Introduction to Kentucky Workers' Compensation Compensability and Liability Issues

    This module covers the Kentucky Office of Workers' Claims and describes its role in the processing of claims. It also covers notice, jurisdiction, average weekly wage, temporary total disability, and begins to cover forms. We then give a background regarding permanent partial disability, waiting periods, and gatekeeper medical providers.

  • Common Defenses, Unfair Claims Settlement Practices, Medical Expenses

    Module 2 covers unfair claims settlement practices, the employer and insurer's duties regarding reporting the claim to the state and discusses what to do when a new claim is reported. This begins to cover litigating claims and defenses to claims as well. The employers' duties regarding medical expenses are also covered along with filing responsive pleadings.

  • Common Defenses, Litigated Claims, and Settlement

    This continues our discussion of common defenses and further discusses how to handle litigated claims. This Module also discusses proof deadlines, evidentiary standards

  • Exam

    An exam is included in the Kentucky Workers' Compensation Series. It consists of 50 questions with a 90 minute time period. You must first take the Kentucky Workers' Compensation Series training modules before taking this exam. You will have one attempt to pass this exam with a passing score of 70% or higher. (Additional exams are $50.)
