Right-to-Work Law

• Tennessee is a right-to-work state
• Union dues cannot be required for employment

Tennessee follows at-will employment, meaning:

• Employers can terminate employees for any lawful reason or no reason
• Employees can leave anytime without notice

Minimum Wage

• Tennessee does NOT have its own state minimum wage law
• Employers must follow the federal minimum wage under the Fair Labor Standards Act

Overtime

• Non-exempt employees must receive 1.5x pay for hours worked over 40/week

Pay Frequency
